Transferred Officers Extended Leave Regulation 1998



His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Transferred Officers Extended Leave Act 1961.

1   Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Transferred Officers Extended Leave Regulation 1998.
2   Commencement
This Regulation commences on 1 March 1998.
Editorial note—
The regulation (statutory rule) appointed 1 March 1998 as the date of its commencement. Pursuant to section 39 (2A) of the Interpretation Act 1987, the regulation is not invalid merely because the regulation was published in the Gazette after the day on which one or more of its provisions is or are expressed to take effect, but provides, in that case, for that or those provisions to take effect from the day on which the regulation is published in the Gazette, instead of from the earlier day.
3   Notes
The explanatory note and table of contents do not form part of this Regulation.
4   Special service: section 4
For the purposes of section 4 (2) of the Transferred Officers Extended Leave Act 1961, the following kinds of service are prescribed as special service:
(a)  war service within the meaning of Division 8 of Part III of the Repatriation Act 1920 of the Commonwealth,
(b)  service outside Australia as a member of the Interim Forces within the meaning of the Interim Forces Benefits Act 1947 of the Commonwealth,
(c)  Malayan service within the meaning of the Repatriation (Far East Strategic Reserve) Act 1956 of the Commonwealth,
(d)  special service within the meaning of the Repatriation (Special Overseas Service) Act 1962 of the Commonwealth,
as those Acts were in force before their repeal, which occurred on 22 May 1986.
