An Act to amend the Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 with respect to unlawful betting on Australian races.
1 Name of Act
This Act is the Unlawful Gambling Amendment (Betting) Act 2000.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on the date of assent.
3 Amendment of Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 No 113
The Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1 Amendments
(Section 3)
[1] Section 8 Offences relating to unlawful betting
Omit “other” from section 8 (3) (b) (ii).
[2] Section 8 (4A)
Insert after section 8 (4):(4A) Subsection (3) extends to a bet that is made by a person while in the State even though the other person with whom the bet is made is outside the State (including outside Australia).
[3] Section 8 (6)
Insert “(except subsection (3))” after “section”.
