Cinematograph Films (Further Suspension) Act 1985 No 31



An Act to continue the suspension of operation of the Cinematograph Films Act 1935, for a further period, to provide for the revival or repeal of that Act at the end of that further period and for other purposes.
1   Name of Act
This Act may be cited as the Cinematograph Films (Further Suspension) Act 1985.
2   Suspension of operation of Act No 41, 1935
The provisions of the Cinematograph Films Act 1935:
(a)  shall be deemed to have had no effect during the period commencing on 21 December 1984 and ending immediately before the date of assent to this Act, and
(b)  shall have no effect during the period commencing on the date of assent to this Act and ending immediately before the day appointed by a proclamation under section 3.
3   Proclamation
(1)  The Governor, by proclamation published in the Gazette, may either:
(a)  declare that the provisions of the Cinematograph Films Act 1935 shall have effect on and from a day appointed by the proclamation, or
(b)  declare each Act specified in Schedule 1, to the extent specified in that Schedule, to be repealed on a day appointed by the proclamation.
(2)  The day appointed by a proclamation under this section shall be a day:
(a)  not earlier than 21 December 1986, and
(b)  not earlier than the day on which the proclamation is published in the Gazette.
(3)  A proclamation under this section shall have effect according to its tenor.
4   Savings
A contract relating to the hiring of films which was entered into before 21 December 1982 and which was affected by the provisions of section 11B of the Cinematograph Films Act 1935 continues to be so affected as if this Act had not been enacted.
